This is my Unit 1 project- I chose to do a hand study. I got references from myself and the internet. My artists were Leonardo Da Vinci and the artists of our jumpstarts/hand references. I like the general anatomy of most of them, but I want to work on it a bit.
Unit 2 project
For my unit 2 project, I chose to do a red monochrome portrait of The Phantom of the Opera. My master artist was _____ and my current artist was ____. Things that I think went well were the jacket and the shading on the mask, and things I would change are the perspective of the face and the facial features to make it look more like the reference. It was tough making the clothes look good since they were so dark in the reference photo.
Unit 3 project
For my unit 3 project, I chose the animal close up option. I drew a dog's teeth in graphite. At first I tried doing it in pastels, but it went very wrong so I redid it in a medium I was more familiar with. One thing I like about it is the amount of value I got. If I could do it again, I'd want to make the teeth look bigger and better.
Unit 4 project
For my unit 4 project I chose to do a self portrait. I used acrylic paint. 2 things I like are the shading on the nose and the chest. One thing I wish I did better was making the perspective and proportions look more accurate to the reference picture.
Unit 5 project
For my unit 5 project, I chose to do a culturally inspired piece. I was inspired by a 16th century Japanese art style called Oshibana, which is making pictures with pressed flowers. I collected plants and flowers in my neighborhood and yard while walking my dog, pressed them in a special microwave thing, and glued them to the paper. My current artist botanicpress on instagram, I was inspired by how she made bouquets. My master artists were the samurais who started the art method.
Unit 6 project
For my visual pun I chose to do "keep your eyes peeled". I drew the hands of a pirate peeling off the outer layer of his eye. I used colored pencil and white gel pen for the highlights on the blood and jewelry, and lined it with sharpie.
